Background
My origins are from two Latin American countries: Costa Rica and Colombia. Costa Rica is the place I call home and it is also the homeland of my first last name: Alpízar. Colombia also runs through my veins as it is the origin of my second last name: Gaviria.
As you can see, I grew up between two extraordinary cultures and since my childhood, I have been a curious observer of life, nature, and art.
My family, nature, people, and the moments that I have lived in these two places inspire me and produce in me a great passion for telling stories.
I distill complex ideas into simple and meaningful communication, bringing them to life through images. I have been working for the last 15 years in editorial photography and video, documentary, and social media.

I love music…., good music, really love to sit and put all my attention to it. My favorite bands are Faith no more, The Clash and Los Prisioneros, NIN, Bowie, Austin TV, just to name a few. Thankfully I’m surrounded by people who also like and enjoy good music.
My favorite movie is Back to the Future, the trilogy. I also like more artsy, independent, hipster, deep movies like Fargo, Adaptation, Barry Lyndon, Mulholland Dr, and Trainspotting, but, BTTF will be always in the first place.
I like to do sports, move my body and be aware of my capacities. I do cycling, surfing, and more recently rock climbing and slacklining. I also practice yoga to keep my body in one piece after doing all mentioned before.
I enjoy art, literature, science, and design as well, but more recently I’ve turned my attention to nature as a source of inspiration and admiration. With its simplicity and clear purpose, I find inspiration to live a simple and meaningful life.
And last but not least, I’m in love, deeply in love. I truly believe in it and I'm thrilled to honor it with my work.
